Dave Doughty and Louise Engel
‘In 2009, Louise Engel attended her first Merlin Meet in Utah. It had a big impact, and since 2010 her falconry has centered around flying her 8 x intermewed peregrine-merlin hybrid on large starling flocks. Louise will speak about her experience training and hawking her perlin in the Niagara region of southern Ontario, Canada.’
"I have flown and trapped Merlins in both the U.S. and Canada. My falconry addiction started in 1971. I have flown eyass, passage, and hacked Merlins here in Ontario, Canada and a Perlin produced in British Columbia as well for 5 years. I have trapped Merlins in Canada by vehicle and also while they are on migration along lake Ontario. I have a fascination with the color, size variations, and growing numbers of Merlins we are starting to see across Canada and especially in the east."
